跨文化交际中委婉语的语用原则

【摘要】委婉语是人们在社交中为了避免尴尬，伤害他人，谋求理想的交际效果而创造的一种语言形式。然而要在跨文化交际中成功地解读和应用委婉语，必须了解它的语用原则。本文主要从合作原则、礼貌原则和自我保护原则三大方面加以剖析。 【关键词】委婉语 跨文化交际 语用原则 一、委婉语的定义

“Euphemis” 一词源自希腊语，词头“eu”的意义是 “good”（好），词干“phemism”的意思是“speech”（言语），整个英文单词的意思是 “word of good Omen”（好的说法）。委婉语最初源自于文化、宗教、政治、习俗等各个方面的禁忌，采用温和的、不触犯他人的词语来替代那些表达残酷的或令人不快的事实的词语。它属于一种修辞格，也是一种文化现象。 二、委婉语的跨文化交际功能

委婉语的功能主要有三大类：首先是避讳避俗功能。在语言交际过程中人们谈到禁止或忌讳说（或写）的某些词语（或话语）时，即可使用委婉语来避

英汉委婉语的对比与翻译

一、引言

Euphemism一词源自希腊语，eu-是前缀，意思是“good”，词干-phemism的意思是“saying ; speech”，合起来就是“good speech”（好听的话）。Neaman把euphemism定义为“substituting an inoffensive or pleasant term for a more explicit, offensive one, thereby veneering the truth by using kind words.”（用不冒犯人或令人愉快的词语去代替直率的、触怒人的词语，用好听的词语去掩饰事实）.牛津高阶英汉双解词典中对euphemism的定义是：“use of pleasant, mild or indirect words or phrases in place of more accurate or direct ones” （用愉快、温和、间接的词或词组替代直露、直接的词）.汉语中有与euphemism相对应的修辞格，一叫婉转或委婉语，即‘在说话时遇有伤感惹厌的地方，就不直说，只用委曲含蓄的话来烘托暗示’；二叫避讳格，即‘说话时遇有犯忌触讳

［摘要］在跨文化交际中，委婉语具有重要的社会功能，一方面，它可以维持语言禁忌的施使和效
