Wereviewthemainresultsofthee ectivedescriptionoftheQuantumHall uidfor

byaconformal eldtheJain llings,ν=m

pm+2theory(CFT)intwodimensions.Itisstressedtheunifyingcharacterofthem-reduction

proceduretoconstructappropriatetwistedCFTmodels,calledTwistedModels(TM),whichbyconstructionreproducetheQuantumHalltopologicalpropertiesatthose llings.IndeedfortheJainplateauxwe ndthatthedi erentdescriptionsgivenintheliteraturefallintodi erentsectorsoftheTMforthetorustopology.Otherinterestingaspectsareexplicitlyseenforthem=2nonstandard llingν=1

).FurthermorebyusingBoundaryCFTtechniquesthepresenceof

localizedimpuritiesand/ordissipationisshowntobecloselyconnectedwiththetwistedsectoroftheTM,whosepresenceassurestheconsistencyoftheconstructionandwhoseroleindescribingnontrivialglobalpropertiesof2Dquantumcondensedmattersystemsisstillunderstudy.2
