too to 的用法

A．too．．．to．．．结构意为“太 而不能 ”，形式上是肯定式但表示否定之意，故不定式“to＋v．（原形）”不能再用否定词not。例如：

1．你年龄太小而不能上学。

【误】You're too young not to go to school．

【正】You're too young to go to school．

B．too．．．to．．．结构中的too是副词，其后修饰的是一个形容词或副词，不可换用 very，so，quite，rather等表程度的副词。例如：

2．昨天他们来得太晚没能赶上早班火车。

【误】They came very（so，quite，rather）late to catch the early train yester- day．

【正】They came too late to catch the early train yester- day．

C．too．．．to．．．结构是个简单句，可转换为so．．．that．．．复合句，但两者不可混用。例如：

3．我刚才累得走不动了。

【误】I was so tired to walk on just now．

【正】I was so tired that I couldn't walk on just now．

【正】I was too tired to walk on just now．

D．too．．．to．．．结构的主语在逻辑上为后面不定式的宾语时，不定式必须省略相应的人称代词。例如：

4．这盒子太重了我搬不动。

【误】This box is too heavy for me to carryit．

【正】This box is too heavy for me to carry．

E．too．．．to．．．结构也可转换为not．．．enough to．．．形式，此时的不定式表示的却是肯定之意。例如：

5．这冰太薄不能在上面滑。

【正】The ice is too thin to skate on．

【正】The ice isn't thick enough to skate on．
