10 Differences between Men and WomenA man will pay $2 for a $1 item he wants. A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn't want. A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband. A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.
A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend. A successful woman is one who can find such a man.To be happy with a man you must understand him a lot & love him a little. To be happy with a woman you must love her a lot & not try to understand her at all.
Married men live longer than single men but married men are a lot more willing to die.
Any married man should forget his mistakes - there's no use in two people remembering the same thing. Men wake up as good-looking as they went to bed. Women somehow deteriorate during the night. A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't. A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change & she does. A woman has the last word in any argument. Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument. There are 2 times when a man doesn't understand a woman - before marriage & after marriage.
Q
uestion:
ANSWERYes, I do. This is partly to do with genetics, gender and up
bringing. Men and women think differently and so act differently. Boys play with soldiers and guns while girls play with dolls and prams and this early training also helps to reinforce male/female characteristics. We dress differently and behave differently in front of our own gender than we do in mixed company.
Generally, do you think that men and women have different characteristics?
Q
uestion:
ANSWERIt seems to be so as there are more female nurses and primary school teachers and the majority of soldiers are still men even though women are allowed into the armed forces. Women express love more easily than men and that is why they are in caring professions such as nursing and teaching.
Do you think that men and women are often better suited to different jobs?
Q
uestion:
ANSWERAlthough women represent 59% of the population they certainly don’t represent 50% of government and business. There are many reasons for this such as sexism and a view that women will leave their jobs to have a baby and not return. Although female numbers are rising in high level jobs, sexist views still prevail.
Why are women rarely well represented in the higher levels of government and business?
Q
uestion:
ANSWERThis is certainly the traditional view and there is a lot of merit in it. Women do have a natural role in bearing and bringing up children and when they turn to a career instead find that there are added pressures which many find difficult to cope with.
Many people believe that “ a woman’s place is in the home”. Do you agree or disagree with this idea?
Talk about
Which stand would you like to take: working as a housewife or a career woman? (Boys are warmly welcome for this question discussion)
Advantages of Men at Home In
addition to society’s changing views of the role men play in relation to childcare, social scientists are also re-examining the contribution a father makes to his child’s welfare and development. Researchers have found evidence to suggest that a father plays a role in child development that is quite different from that of the mother. According to the research, fathers tend to be more playful, thus encouraging children to develop in a different way emotionally and physically than a child might under a mother’s exclusive care.
Studies
have also found that the presence of the father in the home can contribute to lower juvenile crime rates, a decrease in child poverty, and lower rates of teenage pregnancy. Differences in parenting styles between men and women are also believed to contribute to children’s ability to understand and communicate emotions in different ways. The research supports claims by some groups that the absence of a father in the family is the single biggest social problem in modern society.
Passage AQuestions of Passage A The Unsung Heroes:What About Working Dads?
Fast ReadingRead the passage quickly and find out the answers to the following questions: What message does
the author want to convey by mentioning the omission of the father in the movie “Toy Story”? What is the author’s attitude towards the criticism of fathers for not doing much to help with the housework? Why do many men question the value of their roles as fathers?
Reference Answers The author wants to point out that in the U.S. there is a trend towards regarding fathers as less important or necessary. She doesn’t agree. She finds the accusation dubious. Because there is a social trend to devalue fatherhood and to demand that fathers give up their traditional roles as family supporters.
